Obituary

With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Saldana and Pesqueda families announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend, Emilia Saldana Pesqueda. Born in Charlotte, Texas the 18th of September 1930 to Selso Saldana and Felipa Piedra-Saldana.

It is without doubt that Emilia was a strong, energetic, and feisty woman. Loved by so many, the drivers of her kidney transport even stated ''she was a sweet lady and it did not matter what pain she was dealing with,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                she was always laughing, smiling, and humming''.

Being the hard worker that she was, she worked in the fields in her hometown and surrounding areas. Emilia was also a nurse's aide and a care provider in her early years. She was known to always help her nieces and nephews, showing them love by making tortillas and pan loco. Knitting was one of her favorite hobbies. Whether it was a graduation or just because she had the time, many nieces and nephews received a knitted blanket from Emilia. Emilia was also a devout Catholic, a member of the St Rose of Lima Catholic Church and of the Guadalupanas, as well as a CDC teacher. She loved to help in the church and annual picnics.

Emilia is proceeded in death by her husband, Celestino Pesqueda, her parents Selso and Felipa Saldana, her siblings Juana Saldana, Jesusa Saldana, Isidria Luebano, Martha Camarillo, Petra Rodriguez, Trinidad Saldana, Mercedes Saldana, Tomas Saldana, Fermin Saldana, Mary Saldana Pesqueda, Guadalupe Berry.

Emilia is survived by her siters Felipa Arce from Sudan, Texas and Felice Moreno from Boca Raton, Florida, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
